Rural Living at It’s Best
Sometimes you find a diamond in the rough and want to refine it. While they live in NYC full time, these homeowners fell in love with the quaint city of Lambertville and this house. But the home wasn’t exactly the style they were looking for, so they decided to make it the weekend country retreat they were dreaming of.
To make their dream come true, we worked closely with the homeowners to start this whole home remodel and addition.
With this addition, we nearly doubled the size of the home: From 850 to 1450 Sq/Ft
As soon as you arrive at the home you are struck by the total transformation of the exterior. The original enclosed porch was off center to the house and was nearly unusable due to the lack of climate control and rough finishes. Now it gives a welcoming and inviting vibe.
The addition gave us the opportunity to change up the layout of the home to better suit their needs. A few of the changes we made:
✓ Added a large sitting area to the living-room
✓ Converted original primary bedroom to music-room/study
✓ Added a powder room
✓ Moved laundry-room up from the basement
✓ Created 600Sq/Ft basement space with extra high ceilings under addition
✓ Private rear balcony
Transformation Starts with a Plan
It can be challenging to envision your home in any other way than the way it is. But you can transform any space to fit your needs. All it takes is a creative eye and some imagination.
For this home, we helped the homeowners develop their home masterplan to determine the sequencing of the remodel. They started with the kitchen, then the addition project. After understanding what they wanted, we were able to propose three different floor-plans for the addition. The floor-plan they decided on gave them a beautiful master-bedroom suite with easy access to the rest of the home.
Reviving the Heart of the Home
So much attention is put on the kitchen, for good reason. It’s the place everyone wants to be. This kitchen got a major refresh and we can’t get enough of it! This kitchen is setting the vibe for the whole house; Clean, modern, and filled with a whole lot of love.
The sitting area is perfect for morning coffee and a book, the cabinetry provides all the storage space they need, and the peninsula stovetop creates an atmosphere of hospitality to guests and family alike.
When planning a whole home remodel, it is best to consider how you will use each space. This ultimately determines how or if rooms should be converted, if a bathroom needs to be moved, and whether to open up or close a wall. Every case is different. There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to remodeling your space. When you know how you want to use your home, you can create a design to fit that.
The original mud-room entryway was transformed to the current recouped porch which offers a more welcoming experience for guests. We included a large coat closet and powder-room in the front foyer as well.
The original primary bedroom was converted into a serene music room and study.
